UPDATED MESSAGE FROM THE HWLL BOARD

Hampton-Wythe Little League Parents, Players, Volunteers and Spectators,

COVID 19 has disrupted our lives in many ways. The new normal is much different than it was 6 months ago. We have been in communication with the City of Hampton and District 7 Little League during the Pandemic.

Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Hampton Parks and Recreation Department has determined that their fields are not to be used for games until at least December of 2020. They will allow HWLL to only hold practices or conditioning on our fields.

While the league is anxious to try to provide Baseball and Softball opportunities for all 4-16-year-old players to the greatest extent possible, we have made the difficult decision to forgo a fall season. The safety and health of our players and volunteers is our number one priority. We also want to make playing ball as convenient as possible so we did consider having teams based at HWLL however all games would have to be played elsewhere so the board felt it would be easier on our families for them to register with other leagues for the fall so that you can practice and play at the same locations.

HWLL Board has reached out to Phoebus Little League and they are able to have fall ball because they do not play games on city owned fields. We hope that any families that want to play will sign up with them this fall and return to HWLL in the Spring when we hope to be playing on our fields. We will be sending out the Phoebus registration information shortly.

For any families that had a credit to their account from spring 2020 that you intended to apply to the fall season that credit will be rolled over and be available to you in the coming spring 2021 season. We regret not being able to provide Baseball and Softball opportunities at this time but look forward to doing so in 2021.

The safety of our families and players has been at the heart of this decision. This has been a very difficult decision and one we hope the league will understand.

Stay Healthy and Safe,
Hampton Wythe Little League Board of Directors
