Hampton Wythe Little League parents, players, and volunteers,

The Hampton Wythe Little League Board is meeting tonight to determine what the next steps with this season will pertain. We will post and update to this page, through social media and email to all registered players on what our decision is.

All Hampton Wythe Little League activities are postponed until further notice.

Little League International (LLI) is still recommending suspension of all Little League activities to no earlier than May 11th.

This recommendation is based on recommendations from the WHO and CDC, that have the experts providing information to make those decisions.

Based on an emergency meeting with the Virginia District Staff and the eight District leagues, we have decided to continue with the April 6th activity start date previously adopted by the all the leagues within our district. We will continually monitor the situation based on several decision points and will keep you informed as much as possible.

Most of our fields and facilities are governed by City, School and Local municipalities. We are required/obligated to abide by their rules and restrictions.

Although LLI has set a date for the recommended start date, this is because Little League International has leagues worldwide, there are lots of moving parts and decisions to be made.

It’s important to understand that the season is not canceled, and there will be many provisions as we work through this. This is a national concern. Don’t worry about things like if your player will get to play any games, or how is my player ever to become eligible to play all-stars, these things are being discussed at the highest levels.

Like you, we are actively following the news regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We understand that this rapidly evolving situation can be unsettling. We want to assure you that at Hampton Wythe Little League the safety and well-being of our players, families and volunteers is always our top priority.

The board of the Hampton Wythe Little League has made the decision to follow the guidance of Little League International.

Please follow us on Facebook, where we will post updates about this season as they become available.

We appreciate your understanding and patience in this time. Please stay safe and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) prevention and treatment guidelines. Do what is best for your families in this time.
